A half-length oil portrait of a man with shoulder-length curly dark hair and a moustache, turned slightly to the side against a dark olive background. He wears a black jacket with gold frogging and buttons, a white collar, a white sleeve cuff, and a dark velvet cloak, with a ring on one hand. The painting is inscribed in the upper left with the artist's name, Isaack Luttichuys, and the date 1656, identifying it as a work by that artist.
