About this work
This watercolor-style view shows the north terrace of a large stone castle, with its round tower and crenellated walls rising above a broad gravel walk. Elegantly dressed figures stroll along the terrace and gather beneath dense trees on the right, while a distant landscape stretches to the left. The work is attributed to Paul Sandby.
