About this work
This watercolor landscape by David Cox, titled On the Wye, shows a wooded foreground framing a winding river that flows toward distant hills and cliffs under a pale, cloud-filled sky. Warm brown, ochre and soft green washes give the scene a muted, late-day atmosphere.
