About this work
A graphite drawing by George Romney shows a dynamic group of figures in a shadowed, cave-like setting, with one nude or lightly draped youth striding forward while others reach toward him. Loose, hatched shading creates a dark atmosphere, and a small red-stamped inscription with the date 1940 appears in the lower right corner.
