About this work
A loose pen and brown ink sketch shows a seated female nude turned to one side, with her arm drawn across her body and her hair falling in dark masses. Quick overlapping contour lines around the head and shoulders suggest studies of the pose, and a red ink mark appears in the lower left corner. The work is catalogued as Caladon and Amelia (So-called) by George Romney.
