About this work

An oil painting shows a young boy in a green hat and red vest kneeling beside a dirt path, looking up at a girl in a red headscarf and blue apron who carries a wicker basket of greenery on her back and rests on a walking stick. A rocky mountain peak rises through the clouds in the background, and the signature of Edmund Mahlknecht appears in the lower right corner.
