About this work
A pencil drawing shows a large multi-storey building with rows of arched openings set along a waterside terrace, backed by a hill and a steep rocky outcrop on the right. A small rowing boat with several figures sits at the left edge of the shore. The handwritten inscription at the top reads that the building was constructed by Cardinal Spinelli while he was archbishop of Naples, and is dated October 24, attributed to John Robert Cozens.
