About this work
A pen and ink drawing shows a column of musketeers in wide-brimmed hats and period dress marching through a stone archway, with two drummers in front and a flag bearer behind. A swordsman in a feathered hat and sash walks at the left edge, and a stone stair with iron railing leads down at the right. This tailpiece for "The Evolution of New York, II" is by Howard Pyle.
