About this work
A pencil sketch shows the ruined Temple of Venus on the Bay of Baia, with broken walls, arched openings and a crumbling facade set against a sloping hillside and the sea below. Handwritten annotations label parts of the structure, including 'open' and 'wall', and note the material as red brick. The work is attributed to John Robert Cozens.
