About this work
A painted allegorical scene set among rocky outcrops under a dramatic, warm-toned sky, with a bare-shouldered woman wearing a white drapery and a red feathered headdress extending her arm toward an armored man. Lions, a leopard, an elephant, a seated woman with a lion's head at her side, and several children with a globe and a serpent fill the composition, while mounted riders appear in the distance.
