About this work
A pencil study shows a standing man in seventeenth-century dress with a cloak, falling collar and tall boots with spurs, accompanied by separate studies of boots and a hat in brown wash. Handwritten notes in the lower left identify the subject as Arthur Goodwin and reference Van Dyck, and the monogram in the lower right is attributed to James Ward. The sheet is presented as a print in the Wikimedia Commons record.
