About this work
José García y Ramos's painting José García Ramos Leaving a Masqued Ball shows masked revelers in elaborate costumes spilling from an ornately decorated entrance onto a rain-slicked street. A woman in a white gown with a veil and a man in a black top hat stand prominently at the center, while men in long coats and a uniformed officer watch the scene. The signed and dated inscription in the lower left reads 1905.
