About this work
A monochrome wash drawing with touches of color shows a pastoral valley framed by large spreading trees in the foreground. Cattle wade and rest in a shallow river while a woman carrying a pail walks along the bank, and a ruined Gothic abbey with tall arched windows stands in the middle distance.
