This engraved frontispiece for Histoire des guerres civiles de France by H.C. Davila shows a standing figure in classical dress beside a winged allegorical figure holding laurel wreaths. A crowd of helmeted soldiers with spears advances across a stone stair beneath a monumental portico, and a reclining figure occupies the lower left.
