This small oil sketch shows a wide river or estuary beneath a turbulent sky of grey, dark blue, and pink clouds, with light breaking through in places. A dark mooring post and a thin mast stand at the lower left, while low buildings and banks are suggested along the distant horizon. The work is catalogued as "Rouen, ciel orageux" by Albert Lebourg, dated 1885.
