About this work

This hand-coloured aquatint shows the Mull of Galloway in Wigtownshire, with steep layered cliffs rising above a churning sea. Numerous white seabirds perch on the rocky ledges and wheel over the water, while small vessels and a distant headland appear on the horizon. The work is credited to William Daniell and dated 1815.
