About this work
A hand-coloured aquatint-style print shows the ruined Dunnottar Castle perched on a rocky headland above a turbulent sea, with waves breaking against the cliffs and seabirds scattered below. Small sailing vessels are visible on the distant horizon under a pale, cloudy sky. The work is drawn and engraved by William Daniell and dated 1822, published in London.
