Two horses confront each other on a grassy hillside under towering cumulus clouds, one white and one chestnut, rearing and turning with manes flying. A snake coils among broad green leaves in the foreground, and a herd grazes near a small pond in the distance. The work is signed and dated 1849 in red at lower right, and is attributed to Rudolf Koller.
