About this work
A watercolor interior in the Biedermeier style shows a man seated at a large blue-topped table covered with papers, surrounded by glass-front bookcases, upholstered armchairs, and a tiled stove. A classical statue stands by the window and a gilt mirror hangs between the tall windows. The work is signed and dated by Franz Alt and dated 1846.
