About this work

This black and white print shows a Jewish cemetery with three gravestones in the foreground, the central one topped by a menorah and the flanking ones carrying a hand gesture and a Star of David. Two tall weeping willows with drooping branches frame the scene against a dark cypress backdrop. The stones are covered in Hebrew text, and the work is attributed to Ephraim Moses Lilien, titled Lieder des Ghetto 16.
