A bold ink drawing shows a man's head in right profile, rendered with heavy dark shading, hatching and sharp contour lines on a tan paper ground. The square frame is decorated with small cross and diamond motifs, and the lettering beside the face reads "François d'Assise" with a partially legible inscription below, dated 1928 and attributed to Émile Bernard.
