The figures wear tall fur hats, long coats with cartridge pockets across the chest, and daggers at the belt. The image is labeled in French as a Paysan montagnard cabardin, a Cabardin à cheval, and a Cabardin, and is dated 1868, attributed to Vasily Vereshchagin.
