About this work
This engraved frontispiece shows a crowned, veiled figure of Christ at the top, surrounded by torch-bearing angels and robed figures seated in the lower corners with writing tools and animals. A central cartouche bears the title Theatrum Dolorum Iesu Christi and a small relief-like scene of a mother and child.
