About this work
This engraved print shows the front portico of the Pantheon in Rome, with its tall Corinthian columns, triangular pediment, and inscription band, and the great dome rising behind it. Small figures, carts, and surrounding buildings populate the street in the foreground. The work is by Giovanni Battista Piranesi and dates to 1748, and its title identifies the building as the Pantheon of Agrippa, now the church of S. Maria ad Martyres.
