A lithograph in grayscale showing a uniformed soldier seated on a grassy embankment, head resting on his hand, beside a fallen soldier and scattered military equipment including a helmet, sword and drum. A wooden cannon carriage and a distant cross on a hill appear under a dramatic cloudy sky. The print is credited to Horace Vernet as painter and Carl Weigandt as lithographer, published by W. Kuhl in Hanau, dated 1825.
