A loose, sketch-like drawing in chalk and pastel shows a busy fairground scene with a carousel under a striped canopy at left and a dense crowd of figures in hats and long coats filling the street. A horse-drawn cart and buildings with arched doorways appear at the right and upper right. Isaac Israëls made this work in 1875, and it is titled The Fair in Amsterdam.
