About this work

An engraved frontispiece shows two men in ornate costume and plumed hats meeting before a crowd of richly dressed women and men, set within a colonnaded architectural stage. Above the scene, winged figures blow trumpets beneath a crowned fleur-de-lis crest, and cherubs with lyres and scores frame the title cartouche at the base. The work is attributed to François Chauveau, dated 1675, and relates to the Lully score of Thésée.
