A crowded interior scene shows men in eighteenth-century dress gathered around tables and standing near a stone fireplace decorated with classical sculptures and a bust. Some figures examine papers or gesture while others sit at the left and right, and a small dog and a boy seated on the floor appear in the foreground. This group portrait by Wybrand Hendricks dates from 1744 and depicts the drawing academy in Haarlem.
