About this work
This painting, titled Off to the Hunt! by Heywood Hardy, shows a fox hunt gathering outside a country house. Red-coated riders on horseback move among a pack of hounds while a horse-drawn coach with passengers waits on the dirt road beside a rustic cottage. The scene is set under a cloudy autumn sky with bare trees.
