About this work

A calm lake stretches across the middle distance, bordered by a dense band of dark conifers and lighter deciduous trees. In the right foreground, tall pines with reddish trunks and spreading branches frame the scene above low shrubs and grass. The soft, warm-toned sky fills the upper left of the composition.
