About this work

A bearded man in a green feathered hat and rucksack leans against a wooden balcony rail while smoking a pipe and listening to a young woman in a red plaid bodice and white blouse playing a zither. Beyond the balcony, a sunlit valley of forested slopes and a village with a church tower is visible.
