About this work
A richly furnished interior shows a seated bearded man in a fur-trimmed red robe, attended by a standing man in green and a young woman in a white embroidered dress and veil presenting a goblet. An older woman in a patterned headdress and another figure in a doorway complete the scene, set against gilded wall hangings, painted vaulted ceilings, and an icon. The work is by Konstantin Makovsky, dated 1868.
