About this work
This black and white print shows a crowded open-air market beneath bare winter trees, with a large Gothic church facade rising behind the stalls. In the foreground, rows of goods lie scattered on the cobblestones, while vendors and shoppers in long coats move among canvas-covered stands hung with meat. Jules De Bruycker made this print in 1907.
