About this work
A color print titled Hansel-gretel-brothers-grimm, credited to Otto Kubel, shows a young boy crouched on a dirt path outside a timber cottage, scattering pale pebbles or crumbs. A white cat sits near a wooden bench holding a copper jug, while a stacked woodpile and a basket hang beside the open door, where a figure lies in bed inside. The printed caption identifies the scene as Hansel und Gretel, plate 1, published by Farbenphotographische Gesellschaft in Stuttgart-München.
