About this work

A poster for the third art exhibition of the Berliner Secession, held May to October 1901 at Kantstrasse 12 beside the Theater des Westens. A woman in a flowing green gown leans in to kiss a large black bear that wears a green laurel wreath, while she holds a fan against a deep blue ground. The printed text gives the exhibition dates, address, opening hours and admission price of one mark, and the work is attributed to Thomas Theodor Heine, dated 1901.
