About this work
An oil study of a woodland edge in early spring, showing bare trunks and branches with a few fresh green buds against a pale blue sky. Loose, rapid brushwork renders the tangled undergrowth and muted ochre ground. The work is attributed to Emil Jakob Schindler, dated 1882, and titled Spring time in Hacking.
