About this work
A large painted battle scene shows dense ranks of soldiers in dark uniforms and shakos firing and advancing with bayonets fixed. A mounted officer on a chestnut horse stands at center, while a wounded white horse falls beside a rider in a green jacket and turban, and an opposing figure in a white robe and turban fires a pistol from the right amid drifting smoke.
