About this work

A sleeping cupid lies on his side with one arm outstretched, his soft pink body set against a dense cluster of pink roses and dark green leaves. A grey-feathered wing rests beneath him, and the loose, textured brushwork gives the flowers a richly layered appearance. The work is George Frederic Watts's "Cupid Asleep" from 1893.
