About this work

A dimly lit interior shows the Virgin Mary holding the nude infant Christ, while a kneeling elderly figure and a richly robed turbaned man in a dark cloak gesture toward a radiant star in the upper opening. Camels and an attendant appear in the background, set against a glowing sky. The scene is rendered in warm earth tones and dramatic chiaroscuro.
