About this work
This etching by Henri Charles Guérard depicts an ornate silver-gilt cup with a tall stem and a lid topped by a small figure. The base and bowl are decorated with scenes of miners working among ores and minerals, and a scrolled handle curls up one side. The sheet carries the artist's signature and a catalogue notation in the lower margin.
