About this work

A pencil drawing of a Paris street shows partly demolished buildings, stacked timber, and signage including a demolition sign and a sign reading Poste restante et reclamations. The handwritten caption identifies the scene as the rue Pagevin on 8 August 1880 during demolitions for the reconstruction of the post office, and the sheet is attributed to Jules-Adolphe Chauvet, dated 1880.
