A pencil drawing shows a multi-storey Parisian building with a wrought-iron balcony, arched entrance and shopfronts, set among rubble and debris. A handwritten caption beneath notes that the Gamain house at 36 rue d'Argenteuil was demolished for the opening of the avenue de l'Opéra in 1881.
