About this work

A lithograph by Jean Veber titled Le Géant ou L'Ogre et la fée shows a huge hairy giant leaning forward and holding a long knife while gripping a tiny struggling figure. A small robed woman raises a slender wand toward him in an open clearing edged by trees, and small creatures are scattered across the ground. Smaller sketches of the same scene appear along the lower margin of the sheet.
