About this work
This engraved print by Gustave Doré shows an elderly figure in pale robes seated on a stone dolmen beneath a large spreading tree. A woman in a dark gown and plumed hat stands at the edge of a stream in the foreground, with a standing stone beside her. The title, attributed to Doré with the engraver Boetzel, refers to a king who consulted an old druid.
