About this work
An engraved oval portrait shows a bareheaded-under-skullcap clergyman in a dark cassock with a wide collar and a pectoral cross on a chain, set within an ornate decorative oval frame. A coat of arms appears at the base, and an inscription beneath names the sitter as Ludovicus Hercules de Levis de Vantadour, Episcopus Mirapicensis. The print is attributed to Grégoire Huret and bears the date 1656 in its engraved legend.
