An engraved illustration shows a large, hunched figure in armour-like clothing reaching under a bed with a knife, while a frightened woman in a headscarf and long dress watches with a hand raised to her mouth. Several small children crouch or lie on the floor beside the bed, and a plumed hat and sword hang on the wall. The work is a print by Gustave Doré.
