About this work
This etching shows a dense, nocturnal scene of nude and partly transformed female figures swirling around a bright central light, with some bodies rising and others falling across the lower half of the composition. The title "Die Lamien" and the inscribed Faust quotation appear in the lower margin, and the work is credited to Oskar Laske and dated 1919.
