About this work

A pencil and wash drawing shows a small stone mausoleum with a cross and the word FAMILLE inscribed above its door, framed by tall conifers. Two figures, a man in a top hat and a woman in a dark dress, stand on a path in the foreground. A handwritten French note in the lower right describes the abandoned cemetery near the Longchamp racecourse in the Bois de Boulogne, and the work is attributed to Jules-Adolphe Chauvet, dated 1852.
