About this work
This drawing-style etching shows a standing man in a long coat and high collar, leaning on a slender walking stick, with his head turned toward the viewer. The sheet bears a signature in the upper left, a red collector's stamp, and French printing notes at the bottom for the second state, unique proof, with the inscription naming Whistler after W. Chase and H. Guérard.
