About this work

A pen-and-ink drawing with colored washes shows the ruined Glacière Pompadour at Meudon, with an ivy-covered stone wall, arched openings, and a row of classical columns along a paved walkway. A green picket fence runs across the foreground beneath dense trees. The sheet is inscribed with the place name and the date July 1894, signed by the artist Jules-Adolphe Chauvet.
